INDATEL Welcomes Accord, Expanding National Collaboration Among Rural Network Providers
INDATEL Services is proud to announce that Accord, a collaborative middle-mile fiber consortium based in Indiana, has joined the INDATEL member family. This partnership is another milestone in INDATEL’s continued nationwide growth and mission to empower rural and regional providers through collaboration, scale, and shared opportunities.
Founded by a coalition of electric cooperatives and rural telephone companies, Accord was created to unify independently owned fiber networks into a single, statewide middle-mile platform. With the governing support of its nine-member board, and under the leadership of James Tanneberger, CEO, and Jerry Haver, VP of Operations & Business Development, co-founders of Accord, the organization has rapidly grown into a nationally recognized model for how small, local providers can work together to compete at scale.
Accord Enters Next Phase – Raises Additional Funding, Adds Formal Leadership Team and Four New Member Owner Companies
Accord Telecommunications Collaborative, LLC, a middle-mile provider serving the Midwest with a dedicated team of 25 member-owners, signals the start of its next developmental chapter. This pivotal phase sees the appointment of new board leadership and the introduction of its inaugural executive staff. The initiative is now bolstered by additional operating capital and the addition of four new member owners.
In the latter half of 2023, Accord added Decatur County REMC, Joink LLC, Northeastern REMC, and Warren County REMC as new members. The organizations complement Accord’s existing membership, solidifying its network with a total of 25 local, rural service providers.
Co-ops Band Together to Build Statewide and Regional Middle Mile Networks
It couldn’t have happened at a worse time. Representatives of Mississippi’s electric cooperatives had gathered for the statewide’s July 2021 board meeting when internet service suddenly went out.
That’s when 17 electric co-ops joined forces across the state to build a middle mile broadband network.
Accord Announces New Members and Expansion Plans
Accord Telecommunications Collaborative, LLC, a middle-mile provider in the Midwest, now welcomes four new member-owners and announces plans for future expansion.
The most recent additions include Berry Communications, LLC, Mainstream Fiber Networks, LLC, Rochester Telephone Company, and Surf Internet.
Accord Creates Statewide Fiber Network in Indiana
Accord Telecommunications Collaborative, LLC, a consortium of electric and telephone cooperatives, announced its formation today. By leveraging the vast fiber assets of its electric and telephone cooperative member-owners, Accord will be able to propel Indiana to be the most connected state in the nation. Through Accord’s unique collaboration, it will create one of the largest contiguous, fiber-based networks in the state.
